Te Ao Māori Policy Development
Shaping positive outcomes for Māori, communities, and the environment

There is growing recognition of tikanga principles and Te Tiriti in law, policy and decision making. Te Ao Māori context within policy helps ensure that Māori heritage is recognised and protected, and that Māori voices are heard in planning and development processes. This is crucial for achieving equitable, sustainable and mutually empowering outcomes that benefit both Māori communities and wider society in Aotearoa.

Our team has extensive Te Ao Māori knowledge and experience in writing Māori policy, this includes writing Māori sections of the Tāmaki Makaurau Unitary Plan.

Collaborate with us, central and local government, and mana whenua, to craft forward-looking policies for comprehensive outcomes.

We develop inclusive policies that incorporate Māori perspectives and values, this includes:

Planning & development

  • Resource management plan reviews
  • Methodology development for complex planning
  • Plan changes and submissions
  •  Submission preparation

Specialised Te Ao Māori advice

  • Māori heritage recognition, management and protection counsel
  • Iwi planning documents on behalf of Iwi/Hapū
  • Mana Whakahono ā Rohe support
  • Mana Whenua engagement and co-design
